I’d like to rate Weleda Birch Cellulite Oil higher because it’s a pretty good cellulite product.
However, it has some drawbacks that made me give it 2 out of 5 stars.
First off, it’s an oil.
I like the idea of an oil because it’s packed with potent skin boosting ingredients that can penetrate the skin (like a facial oil or serum for your body).
However, they are a total pain in the backside to use!
And this cellulite oil is no exception.
The main reason I couldn’t rate this product higher is because of the application process.
It’s super messy and runny and greasy.
The bottle doesn’t have much of a regulator or nozzle so the oil comes flowing out.
Be careful with how much you apply because I used way too much many times on accident and it was a hot mess.
It took like 1-2 hours for it to completely dry.
To make matters worse, I was super greasy and junk kept sticking to me (hair, debris, small animals).
It was pretty gross.
Think less is more and be very careful pouring it into your hand.
If you use the right amount aka a small amount, it makes the whole process a lot less painless.
I really like the smell of this oil, a sweet citrus scent, and it has great ingredients that are entirely from plants.
It’s free from synthetic preservatives, fragrances, colorants and mineral oils.
I love a natural product!
It also has pretty good results.
My skin feels SO soft and healthy.
It also slightly helped reduce the look of my dimpled booty and thighs.
It’s a runny, greasy oil that’s very slick to the touch.
Application is not fun with this product.
It’s so messy and cumbersome and annoying.
Granted, most oils aren’t fun to apply.
It says to massage oil in circular motions into your skin twice a day for the first 4 weeks and then daily to maintain results.
So a word of caution is to start off with a tiny amount of oil.
Or at least much less than you would expect.
The oil comes out pretty quickly and gets everywhere.
It’s runny and so greasy.
It’s easy to rub in because it’s so oily.
It feels good on the skin but definitely gets everywhere so apply in the bathroom in the tub or on a towel.
I applied too much quite a few times and it was NOT fun.
It felt like it just sat on top of my skin.
But when you use about a nickel size amount, it’s much easier to work with.
Just be careful because it’s hard to regulate how much comes out of the bottle.
If you apply it right, it only takes about 5-10 minutes to completely absorb and dry.
But if you make the mistake, like me, and slather it on… oh my goodness.
You feel like an oil slick for about an hour or two.
You’re like a magnet for hair, debris, and random casualties of your oily body.
Just a word of caution, less is more!
Start with much less than you’d think and work your way up.
Smell (in the bottle)
In the bottle, this oil smells like a citrus essential oil.
It even comes in a bottle that mimics that of an essential oil that you use in a diffuser.
It smells great, really refreshing and soothing.
Just a tad bit strong, but almost all cellulite products smell strong in the bottle.
Smell (a few hours after application)
The smell fades to a mild scent a few hours after applying.
It smells fantastic, like a sweet, lemon-y grapefruit essential oil.
It smells like a spa and I really like it.
Short Term Results
The short term results are awesome.
My skin just felt so good!
Right away my skin felt super soft, smooth, and supple.
The oil is rich and makes your skin feel uber healthy.
Long Term Results
After using this oil for a while, I did see some improvements with my skin.
The cellulite dimples on my tush and legs looked a little less noticeable.
Nothing crazy but I did see a difference.
I’ve seen much better results with other products, so I was a little let down.
Overall, my skin felt super nourished, healthy, and hydrated.
This cellulite oil has some great ingredients.
Of note, I really like: Birch Leaf Extract, Butcher’s Broom, Jojoba Oil, Wheat Germ Oil, and Rosemary Leaf Extract.
All of the ingredients are natural and entirely from plants, a definite perk!
Birch Leaf Extract is thought to detoxify and purify the skin.
Butcher’s Broom is actually a Mediterranean prickly plant.
It has shown to have ant-inflammatory effects, which helps reduce the appearance of cellulite.
Jojoba Oil is frequently used in many beauty products for its skin benefitting effects.
It’s believed to soften the skin and regular oil production, ensuring super hydrated and healthy skin.
Another ingredient is Wheat Germ Oil, which packs a pretty big punch.
It works to nourish the skin by promoting healthy connective tissue, resulting in smoother toned skin texture.
Lastly, Rosemary is chock full of antioxidants that may help firm the skin.
I bought this cellulite oil on Weleda’s website for $27.50.
It’s a 3.4 fl oz bottle, which works out to $8.08 per ounce.
That’s actually a really affordable price for a cellulite product.
I’m happy with the price of it.
Weleda offers a 30-day money back guarantee!
I’m really happy to see this guarantee.
I love when companies stand behind their products.
