Body Makeover – ‘Cellulite No Big Deal’ Cellulite is a nightmare for most women; while some men have cellulite it is a bigger worry for women of all ages.
From the onset let me make it clear that you CANNOT get rid of cellulite with creams, lotions, liposuction, pills, medi-spa treatments, vibrating sponges. Stop using them. The fact of the matter is there is no real difference between cellulite fat, and regular fat. Cellulite is actually caused by muscular atrophy, a condition that occurs when the layer of muscle becomes weak and undefined, and separates from the skin, making the unattractive fatty deposits visible.
The major step to fight cellulite is to look beyond your skin and deal with the muscles underneath the skin. The good part is that there is a way to reverse muscular atrophy, and banish annoying cellulite completely.
Do not get depressed over your unsightly cellulite, it is a very common problem which can be tackled. If you have tried losing weight to beat cellulite, you have already discovered it does not work. When it comes to cellulite size does not count, you could be a light frame but still find it a challenge.
To get rid of cellulite,
Exercise to strengthen your cellulite trouble zone muscles which include arms, abs, hips, thighs and glutes (Buttocks) through body weight exercises and lifting weights.
More importantly, aim to improve your body’s blood flow; loose fitting clothes promote good circulation which is essential in how to get rid of cellulite; tight clothes work against you. Seducers beware.
If your pants or undergarments leave deep marks in your skin at the end of the day, this can be a sign that blood flow is impaired in those areas.
By sitting at your desk all day you risk of suffering from cellulite because sitting prevents sufficient blood flow to the bottom and thighs. Stand up and walk around.
During exercise light movements will toughen and firm your muscles in the cellulite areas; you tone and shape the muscle layers, pushing them towards the skin and getting rid of the dimpled appearance. Exercise such squats and donkey kicks will destroy cellulite all over the body the more you do them.
Next thing is to control your eating. Cellulite can be significantly reduced by rebalancing the body’s system by eating certain foods. This will allow the body to detoxify itself more efficiently, help break down these fatty deposits and prevent them developing again.
The build-up of toxins in the body can also be an important contributor to making cellulite.
Cellulite is a sign that your body is polluted, a build-up of fatty, toxic and water deposits in your skin. When you processed foods, refined sugars and salts, processed starches, cooked animal proteins, chemicals, pesticides and preservatives all that junk must go somewhere. You have to reduce the body‘s acidity through eating clean, alkaline, unprocessed diet combinations.
Simply by eating correctly you could soon have smoother, sleeker thighs – and save yourself a fortune on dubious cellulite creams and phony lotions.
Foods to eat:
Sweet peppers, tomatoes, cabbage, lemon juice, cayenne pepper, parsley and citrus fruits are all excellent cellulite fighters as they contain bio-flavonoid, which help strengthen capillaries and so prevent cellulite.
Chicken backs, beef knuckles, ham hocks, chicken feet, lamb necks, hooves and any other animal-derived matrices of calcium phosphate and collagen fibres are all good to beat cellulite.
Foods to avoid: Salt: Too much salt upsets the body’s regulation of fluids. Drinking water helps your body to flush out toxins. But too much salt makes your body retain the water you consume and therefore toxins.
Don’t combine concentrated fats or carbohydrates, such as white bread and pasta, with concentrated protein, such as chicken or fish, at the same meal this can slow down the digestion of protein and cause a build-up of wastes in the body and therefore increasing cellulite.
Try finding a walking partner. It really help keep you accountable.

Unfortunately, almost all women suffer from cellulite. There are many different factors that can cause cellulite, including hormones, skin type, poor circulation, bad diet, age and genetic predisposition. Cellulite can also be caused by toxicity and water accumulation.
Now that summer is here, we don’t want to worry about cellulite when sporting our bikinis! Here are some ways you can reduce the appearance of cellulite:
1. Follow a proper diet. A diet rich in vegetables and fruits helps because these foods contain water. Water has important toxins that contribute in the elimination process. In my personal opinion, the correct diet is the answer. Try to reduce body fat and you will notice changes in your cellulite appearance. A raw food diet can also help, because it is primarily made up of organic uncooked fruits, vegetables, sprouts, nuts, seeds, seaweed, grains, legumes and purified water.
2. Stay hydrated. Drink water to eliminate toxins and stay hydrated. Water also has an important role in many body functions.
3. Watch your sodium intake. Salt produces water retention. Refined salt only adds to the accumulation of toxicity in your body.
4. Massage. This stimulates the circulation and lymphatic flow. Do a circular massage in your affected area with a cellulite cream.
5. Use a cellulite reduction cream. Make sure to read the ingredients, and use every day and before doing cardio.
6. Exercise. Move! Do cardio and any exercises that help you to burn calories and reduce body fat. I recommend running, cycling and sweating! Wayne Westcott, Ph.D., co-author of “No More Cellulite,” recommends “20 minutes of strength training, with five exercises for the upper body and five for the lower body, and 20 minutes of treadmill walking or jogging, staying at about 70 to 80 percent of maximal heart rate, for three days per week. “
7. Medical treatments. There are a lot of FDA-approved medical treatments, and studies show that some can work. Some of these treatments include ultrasounds, radiofrequency, radical waves technology, etc… Consult your doctor for your best option.
8. Supplements like amino acids, carnitine, ginkgo biloba, antioxidants and healthy fats can help to reduce cellulite appearance.
9. Avoid these foods: sodas, fried foods, processed food, sugar and salty foods. These foods promote the toxins in your body and your cellulite will be worse.
10. Fiber: A healthy digestion is essential to eliminating toxins. Toxins, as I mentioned before, cause cellulite. Eat food high in fiber, like fruits and grains.
Cellulite is something many of us would prefer to ignore. Nobody is proud of their cellulite. It isn’t what most people consider fit or healthy. And it’s not fashionable. Even the most body positive promoters on the net are perfectly content with their cellulite being concealed by shapewear.
Cellulite is lumpy looking flesh normally found on a person’s hips, thighs and rear end. Medical dictionaries define cellulite as, “Deposits of subcutaneous fat within fibrous connective tissue that give a puckered and dimpled appearance to the skin’s surface.” Medically, cellulite is referred to as edematous fibrosclerotic panniculopathy. It is much more common in women than men because of the way muscle, fat and connective tissue are situated differently in the male and female bodies. Cellulite also occurs more in older women – as the skin loses elasticity with age. And though it may be unsightly and embarrassing, most physicians agree that cellulite is normal and not a serious medical condition.
Experts really don’t know too much about what actually causes cellulite. Hormones seem to play a significant role – particularly estrogen. But there hasn’t been much definitive research to confirm that estrogen does in fact cause cellulite. Researchers do agree that heredity plays a role in cellulite. If your mother or grandmother had cottage cheese thighs, there’s a good chance you will too. Another issue is a person’s weight. Though cellulite happens to people who are thin, as well as those who are carrying extra weight, when you have more fat under your skin, there may be more pressure on the fibrous tissue connecting the skin to the muscles underneath. Thus, creating uneven dimples and bulges here and there. So although being overweight isn’t a cause, it can make a person’s cellulite more noticeable.
There are lots of expensive cellulite treatments available. But none of them have been shown to make cellulite disappear forever (even if they promise). Topical creams, compression clothing, chemical injections, liposuction – all of these risky procedures are offered with the claim that they will remove cellulite. While there are no known cures for cellulite or ways to remove it forever, there are some natural ways you can reduce the appearance of cellulite. We’ve found several noninvasive, chemical-free treatments that do actually help.
#1 – Flaxseed.
If you sprinkle a little flaxseed in your oatmeal, over your cereal or on top of yogurt with a little granola, you are unlikely to taste it at all. Aside from the fiber and good fats flaxseed provides, it also promotes the growth of collagen in your body. Collagen is the fibrous protein that makes up connective tissue in your body. Collagen strengthens your skin and underlying tissue, reducing the appearance of cellulite.
#2 – Dry brushing.
One of the most effective natural cellulite treatments we discovered, in our research, is called dry brushing. People are using the method with excellent results. Here’s how to dry brush your skin to reduce the appearance of cellulite: First, find a stiff, natural-bristled brush. Dry brushes for the body generally have a long handle for hard to reach areas. Make sure your skin and the brush are completely dry. Then start brushing the problem areas of your skin in long strokes toward your heart. Dry brushing promotes tighter skin and increases blood flow. The pressure and motion of the brushing are said to help remove toxins from the body by increasing the flow of lymphatic fluid to the lymph nodes where they’ll be excreted. Some dermatologists claim that this elimination of toxins can help smooth the dimpled flesh of cellulite for good. Others suggest that the practice only temporarily reduces the appearance of the cellulite. Either way – we’ll take it.
#3 – Coconut oil.
A particularly easy way to reduce the appearance of cellulite is to massage virgin coconut oil directly onto the areas on your body with cellulite. The coconut oil is quickly absorbed into the skin and can help break down some of the fatty deposits in the cells. People who use this method say that it takes nearly a month of daily use to see some improvements. But those improvements are reportedly pretty impressive.
Some combine dry brushing and coconut oil. The way to combine the two methods is to first take a hot shower. Then apply virgin coconut oil to the bristles on your dry brush and massage the oil into your dimpled skin with the brush. It’s a deep tissue massage with the oil and brush. The benefit of combining the methods is that it may help break down some of the fatty tissue and help eliminate the uneven skin.
#4 – Foam Rolling.
Ah the clever little foam roller. Apparently foam rollers are not just amazing for rolling out pulled muscles and stretching. They’re also helping people firm up those puckered and tufted thighs! When you roll your body on a foam roller, it strengthens the fascia, or the fibrous tissue that lies beneath the skin and binds everything together. The reasoning is that when that fascia is weak, it’s easier for fat to push up against it and cause the telltale cellulite dimpling. The foam rolling helps to smooth things out and tone the fascia and ultimately the skin. Some recommend foam rolling after dry brushing.
#5 – Gelatin and bone broth.
The breakdown of collagen in the body can lead to a greater occurrence of cellulite. You can buy collagen supplements – but they’re pricey. A solid natural alternative is bone broth. Bone broth is an excellent food to combat cellulite because it’s made of animal bones, cartilage, collagen and minerals. Gelatin is basically a dehydrated form of bone broth. It’s available in a powder, which is more convenient for those who don’t have time to boil down beef bones to make broth. Be sure to buy high quality gelatin that’s made from grass fed cows. You can make some fun jiggly desserts with gelatin too. And we’re not talking about the sugar-sweetened artificially flavored and colored kind. Try this recipe:
¼ cup cold water
¼ cup near boiling water
1½ cups organic juice blend (strawberry, peach and orange are great together)
1 tablespoon gelatin powder
1 cup organic strawberry slices
Combine the gelatin and cold water in a medium sized bowl. Stir until well-mixed and somewhat thickened. Add in the near-boiling water to the mixture and stir. Add the juice and mix well until all the ingredients are incorporated. Put the strawberry slices into an 8×8 inch baking pan. Then pour the gelatin mixture over the strawberry slices. Cover and refrigerate for at least 5 hours or overnight. Serve chilled.
#6 – Coffee scrub.
If cellulite is our body’s evil villain, caffeine is our superhero. When applied topically, caffeine tightens the skin. When used over time, it’s been shown to improve the appearance of a dimpled derrière. One of the best ways to absorb caffeine through the skin is a coffee scrub. Of course you can buy a $28 jar of coffee scrub at a trendy boutique. Or you can go to the kitchen and make your own for pennies. Consider our DIY recipe for coffee scrub:
1 cup finely ground coffee
¼ cup sugar
¼ cup olive oil
¼ cup coconut oil
10 drops essential oil (optional)
Combine the ground coffee and sugar in a glass jar or bowl. Add the olive oil, coconut oil and the essential oils if you’re using them. Stir the mixture well to combine. Apply the coffee scrub to problem areas and rinse in the shower or bath. Be very careful if you use this scrub in the shower. It’ll make the floor of your shower super slippery!
#7 – A healthy diet.
There aren’t many conditions that aren’t made better by a healthy diet and lifestyle. Cellulite is no exception. By avoiding the wrong foods and adding better foods to the diet, you can definitely reduce the unsightly appearance of cellulite.
A diet high in sodium will make you retain water and increase bloating. Retained water can contribute to the forming of cellulite in the body. Similarly, a diet high in sugar can cause fluid retention and inflammation. Avoiding high sugar and high sodium foods can help you decrease your chances of adding more cellulite to the body. Refined flour and other grains are also things to avoid. They are inflammatory foods that can also contribute to weight gain. Extra weight pushes on that fibrous connective tissue, making cellulite more noticeable. Do your absolute best to clean up your diet. Make fruits and vegetables your main dish at every meal. Then enjoy small servings of other foods as side dishes. And always make sure you’re drinking enough water.
Although cellulite is largely hereditary for most women, and a normal part of aging, there are steps we can take to reduce its appearance. Don’t hit the cosmetic counter for a tube of the latest and greatest wonder-cream. Instead, try a few of these simple techniques to firm up, smooth out and improve the appearance of your hips, thighs and rear end.
